Unbelievable yet true, "The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe" was auctioned for $15,700,000 (approx. 87 Crore in INR) in 1990. Only six of this kind were produced (1927-1933) out of which only three could be sold. Today Bugatti Royale is one of the largest and rarest cars in the world.
Originally retained by Bugatti the Kellner Coupe was the fifth Bugatti Royale. The engine is a straight block eight cylinder 12.7 liter power house producing 275 to 300 horse power.

It has had a variety of owners including museums, millionaires, brokers and conglomerates. The total amount of money spent to own this car till now amounts to a terrific $48,000,000(approx. 267 Crore in INR). Surprisingly, it had an initial cost of just $30,000 and was made exclusively for the royals around the world. Yet none of the six Bugatti Royale could find their way to any palaces or castles. King Zog of Albania was refused the delivery, Bugatti claiming that, "the man's table manners are beyond belief !".
